63.32 % of North Downs Ward including Hollingbourne voted for Brexit.

A report published this week by the BBC which analysed 2016 Referendum voting by electoral ward revealed that voters in the North Downs Ward of Maidstone which includes Hollingbourne voted overwhelmingly for Brexit. A total of 687 (63.32%) voted to leave Europe while 398 (36.68%) voted to remain.

Hansard has reported that local MP, Mrs Helen Whately has supported Brexit in the House of Commons. She said on 1st February:-

Helen Whately: This evening I will vote to begin the formal process of leaving the European Union because, though I voted remain, the referendum result was clear. In my constituency, and in the country as a whole, the majority voted to leave. Had the result gone the other way, all of us who voted remain would have expected that result to be honoured.
