Car park chaos for first Wednesday visit of Mobile Library.
Today’s first fortnightly visit of the KCC Mobile Library to the Village Hall car park at midday resulted in chaos as the visit clashed with a refreshment stop for a London to Paris cycle rally and the busy lunchtime trade of the Windmill Public House by Richard Phillips. As a result the Library Van had to be manoeuvred into a space behind the Village Hall instead of the former Thursday late weekly afternoon space in front of the Hall.
Residents from other parts of Hollingbourne who were previously served by the weekly library van stops by All Saints’ Church and at Troy’s Mead had difficulty in parking in the car park for the visit from 11.55am to 12.25pm. The service has been reduced in Hollingbourne and elsewhere from weekly visits in order to save £150,000. The next visit will be on 3rd August followed by 17th August and fortnightly from thereon.
The London to Paris cycle event was organised by Global Challenges who left a number of green waymarkers through the village which are to be removed on Sunday 24th July. Their website is http://www.globaladventurechallenges.com/
