Hollingbourne Parish Council has been advised by KCC Highways that work will start on the Eyhorne Street flooding problem on 31st May and that it will not be necessary to close the road (B2163/C603) to traffic although there may be temporary traffic lights outside of Godfrey House while the work is being done.
Southern Water are yet to request a road closure for repairs to the “clanking manhole” outside of Godfrey House which has been an irritant to residents of Godfrey Meadow for some time.
South East Water are to make repairs to the road at the junction on Tilefields and Eyhorne Street on 21st May which will mean temporary traffic lights.
KCC Highways are arranging to make final repairs to the section of road under the Greenway Court Road railway bridge which was flooded for some months because of drainage problems. It is understood that no road closure will be necessary.
Pictured below is the road outside of Godfrey House with the “clanking manhole” on the left, the water flowing down the road in the middle, and the streetlight that has been recently repaired in the distance. The picture was taken from the corner of Station Lane where there was a recycling site that was closed by MBC. The Parish Council has learnt that the MBC recycling site will be open on Tuesday and Thursday evenings to 6.30pm until September as an experiment.
