Do you use the Willington Street Park and Ride service to get into Maidstone?

The Bearsted and Thurnham Society is conducting a survey on local bus services and the Willington Street Park and Ride service from the A20 in Bearsted to Maidstone Town Centre. Since the 1st June the Park and Ride service no longer accepts bus passes and a parking charge has been imposed. Please Read More for the message from the Society to their members which may be of interest to Hollingbourne residents.

Buses

1.    Willington Street Park & Ride service – operated by Arriva for Maidstone Borough Council

  • Have you used this service in the past but no longer use it because you have to pay to park even though you have a valid senior citizen’s bus pass?
  • Have you used this service since the system of payment changed on 1st June but have found it difficult to use the pay machine?

If the answer to either of the above questions is yes, we would like to hear from you. Please email thesecretary@bearstedandthurnhamsociety.org

Please confirm to us whether or not we may forward your comments and contact details in order to assist with putting pressure on Maidstone Borough Council to revert to the former system.

2.    Rural transport – Kent County Council is the Local Transport Authority

You may be aware that KCC is currently consulting residents of the county over the future of rural transport via a “Big Conversation”. It has held eleven public meetings across the county during the past month and has produced a questionnaire for completion online at www.kent.gov.uk/bigconversation  or using a paper version which may be obtained from alternativeformats@kent.gov.uk or by calling 03000-421553 (text relay service number: 18001-03000-421553). This number apparently goes to an answering machine, which is monitored during office hours. A useful consultation booklet is also available online which explains the reasons for this consultation.
Perhaps you have comments on the new routes, timetables, space available, timekeeping, disabled access etc.

We would urge you to take part if at all possible.
The deadline for comments is 8th August 2018.

Kind regards,
Bearsted and Thurnham Society Committee
