The formal opening of the project to plant 100 hawthorn trees to mark the centenary of the end of WW1. Local residents are invited to sponsor a tree for £295 in memory of a family member who served in the conflict.  The service of dedication will be conducted by Rthe Reverend Paul Kite and the Mayor of Maidstone, Councillor David Naghi has been invited to attend. In the evening a beacon will be lit at about 7pm as part of a national chains of beacons and the church bells will be rung.
