Firearms Amnesty.

Hollingbourne Parish Council has been advised of a Firearms Amnesty by Kent Police. Please Read More for a message from Kent Police..

Help us to encourage your residents to do the right thing and hand it in…

Kent Police is committed to getting unlicensed or unwanted firearms, imitation weapons or ammunition out of circulation and falling into the wrong hands. To support this ongoing work, we are launching of a two-week firearms surrender, running from Monday 31 October (8am) to Friday 11 November (5pm).

Please encourage members of your community to take this opportunity to safely dispose of unlicensed/unwanted firearms, imitation weapons or ammunition by taking them to the front counters at one of the following locations, without being prosecuted for having them:

Ashford Police Station
Canterbury Police Station
Dover Police Station
Folkestone Police Station
Maidstone Police Station
Margate Police Station
Sittingbourne Police Station
Swanley Police Station
Tonbridge Police Station
Tunbridge Wells Police Station

If there are residents in your community unable to attend one of the above front counters, please advise them to call 101 to arrange for a firearm trained officer to visit them to collect their unwanted weapon(s).

Most importantly we ask anyone planning to transport a weapon to ensure it is safe before moving it. If anyone is in any doubt, please call 101 for assistance.

Please find attached a poster for circulation within your neighbourhood, which highlights the event and the key campaign messages.

From previous surrender campaigns we have received weapons that were simply lying around unused or inherited from relatives that had passed away. Often people are unsure what to do with them and so many end-up in lofts or sheds. We are urging your residents to sort through their possessions and then do the right thing and hand their items in.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for supporting us in helping to keep Kent safe.

If you need any further information please do not hesitate to contact us.

Kindest regards,
