Southern Gas Networks (SGN) are to relay the gas pipe along Windmill Lane to Grove Mill House over a three week period and starting between 18th and 28th September. Mr Warwick Drawbridge of SGN has given an undertaking that access to the Windmill PH and Village Hall Car Parks as well as to neighbouring properties will not be interrupted during this period. Please Read More for the UPDATES.
Windmill Lane is a public footpath which leads from Eyhorne Street down to Grove Mill House past the Village Hall. The gap between Stable Cottage and the Windmill PH is particularly narrow and is only 3 metres wide at the narrowest point where it is actually owned by Enterprise Inns PLC.
Mr Warwick Drawbridge will be onsite at 12.30pm on Friday 16th September to answer any questions. He can be contacted on 07580 910046 or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org
UPDATE following the site meeting on 16th September. – Work is expected to start on 26th September and will last for no more than two weeks. Disruption will be kept to a minimum by the use of a mole to run the new pipe under the footpath.
UPDATE on 19th October – SGN have as yet not found the course of the present gas pipe under Windmill Lane despite digging a number of holes which have been temporarily backfilled. Work is continuing and in the worst possible case it may be necessary to close or partially close Eyhorne Street for about a week in order to complete the work. SGN have been using the Village Hall car park for their vehicles and equipment and have connected the Village Hall to the gas network at no charge in return for the use of the car park. In the best possible situation it is expected that the works will be completed by Friday 28th October.
