Grey is now the “on trend” colour for Eyhorne Street pubs.

Grey has been chosen as the theme colour for the outside of the newly redecorated Windmill Inn by Richard Phillips which has also received a new look in the garden at the rear. The Windmill is a popular gastropub and is in a listed building in the Eyhorne Street Conservation Area. Also getting a face lift with a slightly different shade of grey is the nearby Sugar Loaves which is also owned by EI Group PLC who were formerly known as Enterprise Inns PLC.

The Windmill has a steak night every Tuesday and a fish and chips for £5 night every Thursday. A music and beer festival has been arranged for Saturday 22nd July.

Just along Eyhorne Street the Sugar Loaves Licensee Steve Thomas runs a Quiz Night every Thursday at 8.30pm and is also running a DIY vinyl night on Easter Saturday (15th April) from 6pm until late when anybody can bring along their vinyl records for a public playing. The Sugar Loaves also has one of the few remaining bat and trap games in Kent.

Hollingbourne has a third gastropub in Upper Street called the Dirty Habit as it is on the Pilgrims’ Way from Winchester to Canterbury. It is is part of the Elite Pubs Group. The Dirty Habit is providing the bar facilities at the Hollingbourne Annual Summer Fete and Exemption Dog Show on the Lance Memorial Playing Field on 10th June. All three public houses are owned by the EI Group PLC, formerly known as Enterprise Inns PLC.
