Help wanted with the 2017 Summer Fete and Exemption Dog Show.

The Annual Summer Fete and Exemption Dog Show which is held in June each year continues to attract large numbers of attendees including many visitors to Hollingbourne while the actual number of organisers and helpers is shrinking. Next year’s event is scheduled for Saturday 10th June and an organising Committee is needed which will represent the whole village and not just a few members of the Parish Council and a small number of others.

The Fete was for many years organised by All Saints’ Parochial Church Council and then responsibility seems to have passed to a Fete Committee which included representatives from the Parochial Church Council, the Parish Council, and others. The 2016 Fete which was mainly but not excluvely organised by Parish Councillors only produced a surplus of £315 and the hope is that the 2017 Fete could be more inclusive with the hope that more funds are raised for the good of the village. In prior years the Fete has raised thousands of pounds for various project and local causes such as the Hollingbourne Meadows Trust and the Speed Sign in Eyhorne Street. This is in addition to monies raised by individual stall holders.

If you feel that you would like to help please contact Vicki Smith, Parish Clerk on Tel 880526 or by e-mail at Planning usually starts for the Fete with occasional meetings from October or November onwards.
