Hollingbourne Golf Society keeps the Dirty Habit Claret Jug.
Yesterday the Hollingbourne Golf Society drew their annual match against a team from Templeuve at the Leeds Castle course. A dinner followed at the Dirty Habit in Upper Street.
Glenn Bryan, Hollingbourne golf organiser writes:-
The day was a success Hollingbourne had 18 golfers but one of the French golfers dropped out at the last minute due to a bad back. This complicated the scoring. Hollingbourne scored 429 points with 18 players and Templeuve scored 405 points with 17 players. When the scores were averaged out it meant that hollingbourne won by 0.01 of a point. The game was officially declared a draw so the Dirty Habit trophy will remain in the Dirty Habit because we won it last time.
In 2017 a return match will be played in Templeuve near Lille which is Hollingbourne’s twin community in France. Other twinning events planned during 2016 include a visit to Kent for Hollingbourne’s Remembrance Day weekend in November, and other tripsfrom Hollingbourne to Templeuve including a coach for the French Armistice Day event in November. A party of nearly 60 from Templeuve attended the Hollingbourne Summer Fete and Exemption Dog Show on 11th June.
