The Church Times is today publishing an advertisement for the post of the Hollingbourne based Team Vicar who will serve the parishes of Hollingbourne, Hucking, Thurnham, Detling, Grove Green, and Boxley. The vacancy has arisen following the the retirement of the Reverend Nigel Fry in April 2015 as Priest in Charge of the Leeds and Hollingbourne Benefice and the subsequent reorganisation of the local Anglican churches by the Diocese of Canterbury.

We wish to appoint a Team Vicar for the five churches known as the “Pilgrims Way Ministry Area” in The Benefice of North Downs. We are a recently launched team with two established stipendiary clergy. Join us as we embark on a new venture of working together. This post will cover five rural villages in an area of outstanding natural beauty and a modern suburban community on the edge of Maidstone, the County Town of Kent. As a reflection of our commitment to mission, there is also a vacancy for a Team Missioner to lead work in new areas of housing.

The Team Rector is the Reverend John Corbyn and the other existing incumbent is the Reverend Steve Hughes who is responsible for Leeds, Broomfield, Kingswood, Otham, and Langley. There will be a special licensing service for the Reverend Corbyn and the Reverend Hughes in All Saints’ Church at 3.30pm on 30th October will be conducted by the Bishop of Dover and the Archdeacon of Maidstone, Bearsted also has a Curate who is the Reverend Melissa Carter.
