Our members are eligible to stand for election as a Governor for the Trust (a three year term). Alternatively, they can also use their vote to choose someone to represent them. Voting ballot packs will go out to members on 1st February. Not yet a member/ know someone that would be great at this role? Membership is free and anyone in the areas we serve can sign up to be a member here: http://www.secamb.nhs.uk/get_involved/membership_zone.aspx and you will then be eligible to stand and vote in our elections.
What do Governors do?
• Represent the interests of our members (staff and public), sharing views and concerns with the Board at our Council meetings.
• Act as ambassadors for the Trust in their local community by taking part in membership engagement activities and getting to know local stakeholders.
• Recruit/appoint Non-Executives including the Chair.
• Work closely with our Non-Executives to hold them to account for the performance of the Board.
• Contribute to our annual plans.
• Plan our membership events and much more!
How to stand or vote in elections is detailed in our member newsletter and also published on our website. The role is voluntary but travel expenses will be reimbursed. Our Governors give between 2 – 3 days a month to the Trust and meetings are held across the areas we serve: Kent, Surrey & Sussex. Full training and support will be provided to enable you to get the most from the role.
