Maidstone Borough Council has granted a further time extension to Country House Homes who received planning permission for 10 houses alongside the Windmill Lane Public Footpath on 26th April 2018 despite strong objections from local residents, Hollingbourne Parish Council, and the Village Hall Committee. Initially an extension of the time to meet various conditions imposed by MBC was given up to 1st July but this has now been extended until 31st July.
UPDATE as of 1st August – This extension has now been carried forward again to 6th August.
The Planning Reference Number is 17/503118 – Eyhorne Street, Hollingbourne (10 houses) and more details can be found at the MBC Planning Portal at https://pa.midkent.gov.uk/online-applications/ . Access to the site is via the three metre wide KH199 Public Footpath which is partly owned by EI Group PLC who are the landlords of the Windmill PH and the Village Hall. In order to gain vehicular access to the site Country House Homes need an easement from EI Group PLC which is yet to be granted.
Meanwhile EI Group PLC have also refused to renew the twenty year lease on the Village Hall which expired in August 2016 until the matter of the development is resolved. A new Village Hall would cost around a one million pounds plus any land costs.
Pictured below is the Village Hall with the private Windmill PH car park to the left and the development site which backs on to HS1 on the right. The site entrance is next to the Village Hall and there is no pavement along the Lane or space for a drive in at the entrance from Eyhorne Street.
