South Eastern trains have announced that there will be no trains to and from Hollingbourne Station today because of the weather. Services from Bearsted and Maidstone East to and from London will be limited to one per hour. More snow is forecast for today and tomorrow.
The following is the lack of service announcement from South Eastern Trains about today, tomorrow, and Saturday (3rd March):
Maidstone East Line (Trains between London & Ashford through Maidstone East)
1 train per hour between London and Ashford through Maidstone East in each direction calling at; Bromley South, St Mary Cray, Swanley, Otford, Borough Green & Wrotham, West Malling, Maidstone East, Bearsted, Lenham and Ashford. The following stations won’t be served: Barming, Kemsing, East Malling, Barming, Hollingbourne, Harrietsham or Charing
The website of South Eastern Trains is https://www.southeasternrailway.co.uk/ where there should be more information. Hollingbourne Station is unmanned but the number for Maidstone East Station is Tel 680824. It is understood that normal rail services will resume on Monday 5th March.
Other services that have ceased in Hollingbourne since the snow started earlier this week include the weekly Post Office in Christopher’s Village Shop, Royal Mail deliveries and the fortnightly Mobile Library service. Hollingbourne County Primary School is also closed for a second day.
KCC Highways have announced that the temporary closure of Musket Lane for five days that was due to start on 26th February has now been rescheduled to start on 5th March because of the weather.
Kent Fire and Rescue service has reported the following at 12.15pm today:
Firefighters attended a small fire inside a barn in Bredgar Road, Hollingbourne. Two fire engines were sent to the incident and crews wearing breathing apparatus entered the building and extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet. There were no reported injuries. The cause is not yet known.
