April 2017

Post-16 Special educational provision questionnaire for young people

We need your help!

As many of you are aware, IPSEA has recently been awarded funding from the Legal Education Foundation for a post-16 Special Educational Needs (SEN) project which will be led by IPSEA’s senior SEN lawyer Lucy Hayes.

The aims of the project are to create some legal resources which will increase public understanding of how SEN Law applies to young people aged 16

– 25, and enable young people and their parents to use this law to obtain the right educational support.

As part of our fact finding we have developed a questionnaire which is centred on:

Young people or their parents’/carers’ understanding of the support they currently receive

Understanding of what support is available up to the age of 25

Where young people or their parents/carers obtain information or SEN support

How, in their opinion, information would best be presented.

We know that a large number of our volunteers are parents of young people or know groups of young people to whom this survey might be relevant.

If you are interested, please feel free to participate in and/or promote our questionnaire, which can be found here.

The survey will be live until midnight on the 30 April 2017.

On completion of the research we will create information resources for parents and young people with SEN and deliver a pilot programme.
