Last night’s Storm Bronagh which passed through Hollingbourne has brought down one the large trees on the Hollingbourne Meadows Trust land at the rear of Tilefields.
Other light damage in the village was to garden furniture left out from the long hot summer and the sign outside of the Eyhorne Street barber shop. A tree also fell across Hollingbourne Hill (B2163/C603) but was quickly cleared.
The land belonging to the Meadows Trust is popular with dog walkers and next month 100 hawthorn trees are to be planted as part of the Project 100 scheme to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of WW1. The site will be formally opened at 2pm on 11th November with a service of dedication led by the Reverend Paul Kite.
