The search continues for Gloria Stringer and other Kent Police news. – UPDATED,

Kent Police have now been searching for a week for Gloria Stringer who went missing on New Year’s Day from Hospital Road where she was last seen at 11.30pm. The Police have used the car park at the Park Gate Inn as a base for several days and have searched the surrounding countryside with dogs and a helicopter to no avail at the present time. Gloria is a known walker and the search area has been extended over a number of miles. A Facebook page has been set up by her family at

UPDATE as of 13th January: Kent Online is reporting that the search is being put on hold because of the lack of new information. Please see Hollingbourne residents have noticed that the Police presence in the area has been reduced over the past few days.

Officers from Kent Police are continuing to appeal for information to help find a woman who is reported to be missing from Hollingbourne.Gloria Stringer, 81, is last known to have been in the Hospital Road area of Hollingbourne at around 11.30pm on Monday 1 January 2018.


She is described as being white, 5ft 2in tall, of slim build with long brown hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing glasses, a fawn-coloured coat, blue jogging trousers and black shoes.

Chief Inspector Mick Gardner said,

‘We are becoming increasingly concerned for Gloria’s welfare and urge residents to the South and East of Maidstone to check to check the areas surrounding their properties.

‘In particular, those living and working in Leeds, Otham, Staplehurst, Headcorn, Coxheath, Chart Sutton, Lenham, Langley, Sutton Valence, Boughton Monchelsea and neighbouring villages are asked to check sheds and outbuildings for any sign of her.

‘I would also ask dog walkers and ramblers in rural areas to remain vigilant.’
