UKIP name candidate for General Election on June 8th.

The United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP) has named Mark McGiffin as their candidate for the Faversham and Mid Kent Constituency on June 8th. Mr McGiffin stood unsuccessfully for the Kent County Council Maidstone Rural East Ward earlier this month and attended the Hollingbourne Parish Annual Assembly in the Village Hall on 26th April. The Hollingbourne Polling Station is the Cardwell Pavilion which is open from 7am to 10pm. The local Electoral Services Helpline is 01622-60207.

Mr Eddie Powell, Chairman of Faversham and Mid Kent UKIP writes:-

Mark  grew up in the constituency where he still lives today. He attended Shepway Infants and Junior School and subsequently moved on to Oldborough Manor Secondary School.

After leaving school he attended Horsted College in Rochester where he studied Civil Engineering and Construction and has worked in the Construction industry for all his adult life.

Mark ‘s working life has been split between local and overseas projects. He has worked on projects in the Falkland Islands, West Africa ,Middle East and more recently South East Asia gaining a vast amount of experience working on different projects and an understanding of many cultures.

Mark is not convinced that Theresa May will deliver the Brexit she is talking about. He also has concerns that the MP for Faversham and Mid Kent voted to remain in the EU until the majority of her party changed their stance.

He also states that if Theresa May fails to deliver on her promises if elected, she will lose the confidence of voters who will have no other home than UKIP.

He is also committed to a zero building policy where there is harm to the setting of the AONB. Rural Villages should remain as such and more generally infrastructure should be completed prior to building.
