Last year Christopher Rudgard who runs Christopher’s Village Shop in the Eyhorne Street Conservation Area announced his intention to retire earlier this year at the end of March. He subsequently arranged for it to be kept open until September and in the September Parish Magazine he published an article, written in July, which stated that the Shop would close on the 31st December 2017 unless somebody or someone came forward. The following is an Update on the current situation.
Christopher Rudgard writes:-
In my article in the September edition of the Hollingbourne Parish Magazine I said that the Shop would definitely close by 31st December 2017 unless a viable alternative came forward.
I am please to say that I am in discussions which, if successful, would lead to the continuation of the Shop. I am unable to give any more details at this time.
However I am the most optimistic that I have been in the eighteen months since I threatened closure that the Shop has a future.
More information will follow as soon as possible.
28th August 2017.
