It is just over two months to go to the Hollingbourne Annual Fete and Exemption Dog Show on Saturday 9th June on the Lance Memorial Playing Field. Plans are well in hand and the Fete Committee is seeking volunteers to help with the montage and de-montage on the day of the Fete, serving at the bar which this year is being run by the Parish Council, and the loan of a freezer for ice storage.
Normally the Fete Arena and stall sites are marked on the day before the Fete and the rope around the Arena is erected at the same time. On the morning of the Fete stall gazebos and other equipment are distributed and erected from about 8.30am onwards. After the Fete ends the Field has to be cleared and the gazebos are gathered up and stored in the container next to the Cardwell Pavilion.
This year the Dirty Habit is not running the popular bar which is a key factor in the financial viability of the Fete as the costs of loos, refuse collection, the PA system, and other items have to be covered. The Parish Council has decided to operate the bar in the absence of the usual team from the Dirty Habit and volunteer bar staff are being sought. The approximate cost of operating the Fete is just over £1000 and this is usually covered by stall fees which have not increased this year in the hope of attracting more stalls, catering sales, and a contribution from the bar.
If you can help with any of the above for even just an hour or so please contact Vicki Smith, Parish Clerk Tel 880526 or by E-Mail at email@example.com
Please also contact the Parish Clerk if you wish to book a Stall. The prices are £15 for Hollingbourne organisations, £20 for non -Hollingbourne organisations and £25 for commercial traders and others. Each stall has a gazebo and any tables or other equipment must be supplied by the stall holder.
Additionally the Fete Committee is seeking the loan of a freezer for ice storage at the event which would be collected and returned from the Cardwell Pavilion. If you can help with this please contact the Parish Clerk.
The next Summer Fete Planning Meeting is at 8pm on Tuesday 24th April in the Dirty Habit and all are invited.
