The rainbow has become a symbol of support and gratitude for the NHS workers on the front line during the Covid-19 pandemic. Like the Clap For Our Carers initiative – which has seen Britain applauding its medical workers from doorsteps and windows – the colourful show of appreciation is a way of uniting a country doing battle with coronavirus.
The trend was reportedly started in Italy by a nurse who wanted to create “a sign of hope” for patients and staff in hospitals across the country.
However, you may have noticed that a lot of Hollingbourne’s rainbow tributes are in the form of Crochet.
These are all the work of local resident Clare who is steadily spreading bright colour and support for the NHS through the village through her self crocheted tributes.
Thank you Clare!
