Hollingbourne Parish Council has received a newsletter the Applause Touring Company who have previously appeared at the Hollingbourne Village Fete and Exemption Dog Show. Please Read More for further information.

Welcome to our latest newsletter – it’s a busy time at Applause HQ!
We have lots of fantastic shows to appeal to all currently touring Kent and Sussex, we’re busy developing new projects and partnerships, we’ve got lots of artist opportunities, and we’re expanding our office team.

The best place to find all things Applause is at our website – unfortunately we had problems with our old site which couldn’t be saved so we have a temporary website and plans underway to develop an all new shiny website in the coming months to make it easier for everyone to use and enjoy all that is on offer! All our contact details are on the website so do get in touch with any feedback, comments or questions, we’d love to hear from you.
Exciting times for Inn Crowd…
We won!! With our partners at Creative Arts East and National Centre for Writing we won the award for Touring Collaboration of the Year for Inn Crowd at the National Rural Touring Forum awards.

We have just been awarded a significant grant from Arts Council England to fund Inn Crowd for the next 3 years, so we will now be able to roll the scheme out nationally working with rural touring partners to take exciting live literature performances into rural pubs across the country.

If you’d like to enjoy brilliant performances from some of the UK’s best spoken word artists in Kent and Sussex in the comfort of your local pub, visit the Inn Crowd website.

Applause Indoors
Autumn is fast approaching which means we are back on the road with Applause Indoors – working with our network of local promoters and some of the best touring theatre companies and musicians to take live performance into village halls across Kent and Sussex.

Look out for some fantastic puppetry for children, comical adaptations of classic dramas, Bluegrass, Country and Cuban beats and some atmospheric storytelling at a village hall near you. Go to the applause website to search by date or location.

Applause Outdoors
We have had a wonderful summer with our 7 brilliant Applause Outdoors companies – 71 different fetes, festivals and outdoor events across our region have been enlivened with rampaging, recycling cavemen; a 17ft tall part man, part tree; the delightful Tweethearts; an epic fusion of dance and ping pong; rare sightings of the Victorian dodo and an immersive drama in a boat! There are still a few opportunities left to see one of these performances – get along to one of these free outdoor events and extend the summer feeling! All listings on the website.
Cherry Soup
True and not so true tales of the South Downs
Sweet, sour and a little unexpected…’so well observed, beautifully performed, very engaging
beautifully written with real resonances for the times we live in’After spending the last few months chatting to over 500 people in the South Downs area, Inn Crowd writer in residence Sara Clifford has weaved all the stories together into a new show, Cherry Soup which has been performed in 9 different pubs and community venues across the South Downs. Audiences have loved the show, and all come away feeling that they know a little bit more about the history and future of the South Downs National Park. The last chance to see this moving, humorous and inspiring show is at Slindon Forge on 25th September and Hogmoor Inclosure at Phoenix Arts Centre in Bordon on 26th September.
