Brickfields Close is in Chaucer Country!

Hollingbourne Parish Council has received the following press release from Fernham Homes about the launch of their new Brickfields Close development on the east side of Eyhorne Street. Please Read More for further information.

A NEW development in the heart of historic Kent will be unveiled by Fernham Homes on 21st and 22nd September, complete with a five-bedroom show home, decorated to show the versatility and space of the luxurious new properties. Set in the picturesque village of Hollingbourne, just outside Maidstone, the exclusive Ellesmere development of 12 family homes is situated in an area rich both in natural beauty and in history.

The village of Hollingbourne once resounded to the noise of horses’ hooves, jingling bridles and the noisy chatter of pilgrims heading from Winchester, Rochester and London to the great shrine of Thomas Becket at Canterbury. These days, residents of the carefully designed, spacious new properties will be able to spend their weekends walking and cycling along the modern Pilgrims Way, following not only Chaucer’s route, but stepping in the footsteps of far more ancient pilgrims who once wended their way to Stonehenge and Avebury.

The comfort, quality and versatile design of the four and five-bedroom detached homes is demonstrated by the show home, with interiors by Jane Clayton. Design Team leader Philippa Stone explained: “A green and yellow colour palette runs through the scheme, in different proportions for different rooms. It’s a rural setting, so we have used lots of wood and natural finishes, including woven wicker, to link to the outside.” Philippa has created an elegant master bedroom, a guest room that’s decorated in a boutique hotel style, a double room for a teenage boy and a young girl’s bedroom, complete with a fashionable llama print headboard. The fifth bedroom has been shown as a home office, but with a sofa bed so it can accommodate an extra guest if required. “The two living areas – a main living room and a kitchen/dining/family room are not too formal, reflecting modern life,” Philippa added.

Fernham Homes, which has more than 60 years’ experience in building quality properties, specialises in finding perfect locations for its new developments, making the most of the natural beauty, fascinating history and modern amenities of Kent. Ellesmere is no exception; situated on land off Eyhorne Street, the homes are less than half a mile from the railway station which offers direct services to London Victoria in as little as one hour and 12 minutes, and there are pubs, a village store, post office, primary school, church and village hall all within easy walking distance. A regular bus service connects Hollingbourne to Maidstone, while for motorists, junction eight of the M20 is easily accessed.
