The annual Hollingbourne Village Fireworks Show on Friday 1st November will be held on the land belonging to the Hollingbourne Meadows Trust at the rear of Tilefields. The event has previously been held at Hollingbourne County Primary School and has raised thousands of pounds for village causes.
Organiser Beccy Stroud writes:
HOLLINGBOURNE VILLAGE FIREWORKS
Mark and I have been organising the annual village fireworks for the last 14 years. It has always been held at the school field but this year we are changing the venue to The Hollingbourne Meadows Trust land to celebrate the 15th birthday of the Meadows Trust in the village and to make the event more community based.
The date for your diaries is Friday 1st November with gates opening around 5.30pm. There will be the usual fantastic display, a BBQ and possibly a pizza oven (TBC) cooked and run by villagers and a licensed bar, also run by villagers. The newly formed Brownie Troop will be selling glow sticks and other goodies. As usual, there will be no commercial concessions and we will have a St. John’s Ambulance presence.
Tickets will remain at £4 in advance, £5 on the door. Details of how and when to purchase your tickets to follow.
For me this event has always been about getting the village community together, stemming from the time when I was organising the Summer Fete in my role as Parish Clerk. The original concept for the evening was to have a simple, fun evening for the community to come together and enjoy, without having to spend lots of money. If we do make a profit (which we have every year) the money always goes back to the village organisations. Beneficiaries over the years have been The Brownies, Leeds Castle and Hollingbourne Garden Society, Hollingbourne Primary, The British Legion, The Meadows Trust, The Village Hall, The PCC, Hollingbourne Pre-school and The Football Club.
I hope to see you all there, please look out for further information over the next couple of months.
