Hollingbourne Parish Council has been advised by the Kent Association of Local Councils of changes in the NHS in Kent which will affect Hollingbourne. Although Hollingbourne had a doctor’s dispensing surgery for over 100 years until two decades ago, most residents use the Yeoman’s Lane surgery in Bearsted which originally grew out of a branch of the Hollingbourne surgery. As there are no direct bus services from the village to Bearsted many older residents and this without cars rely upon others to help them reach the surgery.
The list of Hollingbourne Contacts who who can help with doctors’ and hospital visits is regularly published in the Parish Magazine and more information is at https://www.hollingbournepc.kentparishes.gov.uk/new-hollingbourne-contacts-coordinator-seeks-volunteers/
It appears the Kent and Medway Clinical Commissioning Groups are to be merged and benefits are promised including more opening hours for doctors surgeries. The website of the Kent and Medway NHS is www.kentandmedway.nhs.uk/ics
The Hollingbourne Parish Council has received a booklet about the changes with a request for comments and this can be downloaded at KMSTP_SystemTransformationSummary25062019.pdf (27 downloads)
The front cover of the booklet is reproduced below.
