Eyhorne Street, the B2149/C603, will be closed to through traffic for five days from the 26th May in order that works on the sewer system outside the Fernham Homes Brickfields Close housing site may be completed. Local residents have received details of the closure from O’Rourke Contracting PLC.
A copy of the formal notice of closure from KCC Highways is at http://www.hollingbournepc.kentparishes.gov.uk/event/temporary-closure-of-eyhorne-street-outside-godfrey-house/?instance_id=1964 together with details of alternative routes from the A20 to Upper Street. Apart from HGV’s, most vehicles will be able to reach Upper Street in Hollingbourne via Hospital Road or via Greenway Court Road. Hospital Road which is almost opposite the Park Gate Inn on the A20 is narrow in places while there is a height restriction because of a railways bridge in Greenway Court Road. Hospital Road joins up with Greenway Court Road close to the Lance Memorial Playing Field.
It is assumed that the number 13 bus into Maidstone will not be able to call at the top end of the village during the period of closure.
