Owing to a production problem the dates for the November All Saints’ Church service dates are shown as happening in October. The dates are correctly shown but for October please read November.
November church services include the Patronal Festival on 4th November and the Service of Remembrance on 11th November. There will also be a service of dedication sat 2pm in the afternoon of 11th November for 100 trees planted in Hollingbourne Meadow to mark the centenary of the end of WW1. The Mayor of Maidstone, Councillor David Naghi has been invited amongst others. In the evening at 7pm the Hollingbourne beacon, which is part of a national chain, will be lit in the Meadows and the church bells will be rung. Each one of the 100 trees will be lit by a candle and residents are invited to bring refreshments. There will be a marquee if it is wet and a loo has been organised. More information is at https://armistice100.org.uk/event/hollingbourne-events-to-mark-100-years-since-the-end-of-ww1/
Additionally the children’s auditions for the February 2019 pantomime of Rapunzel will take place at 6.30pm in the Village Hall on 18th November and not as shown in the Village Calendar in the magazine. The date has been changed from the 11th when it would have clashed with the evening events in Hollingbourne Meadow to mark the end of WW1.
Church and Village News is published by All Saints’ Parochial Church Council and the annual subscription is £6. Individual copies at 50p are available from Christopher’s Village Shop in Eyhorne Street.
