Funeral service of former North Downs Benefice Team Vicar.

The death has occurred of the Reverend Steve Hughes (67) who until his retirement last August was the Team Vicar for St Mary’s Church in Langley which is the North Downs Benefice along with Hollingbourne. During the interregnum following the retirement of the Reverend Nigel Fry in 2015 and the appointment of the Reverend Paul Kyte as Team Vicar for the Pilgrim’s Way Parishes, Steve acted as Chairman of All Saint’s Parochial Church Council. It is understood that Mr Hughes died after falling down stairs.

Canon John Corbyn writes:

Steve Hughes’ funeral will take place at 10am on Wednesday 27th February in Much Hoole, near Preston in Lancashire. It is where he grew up, served on the PCC at 17 years old, was the parish priest and where he has a home currently lived in by his son and his family.
After consultation with Mandy and his family we will be holding a service to coincide with the funeral. It will be held at St Mary’s, Langley at 10am on Wednesday February 27th.
