Hollingbourne resident awarded MBE in Queen’s Birthday Honours list.

Broad Street resident Jim Findlay has been awarded the MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list which was announced early today. The citation reads Jim Findlay. For services to the community in Hollingbourne Kent. (Kent).

Jim Findlay recently stood down as Churchwarden at All Saints’ Church in Hollingbourne after ten years in post and had been a member of the Parochial Council for ten years before he became Churchwarden. He was also the founding of the Hollingbourne Meadows Trust some 15 years ago and retired from the Trustees last year. He is a keen cricket fan and his wife Carole edits the Hollingbourne Parish Magazine.

Later today he will open the Hollingbourne Annual Village Fete and Exemption Dog Show at the Cardwell Pavilion at 12.45pm today. Despite wet and windy weather overnight the situation is forecast to improve this afternoon.
