New volunteer distributors are wanted for the monthly Hollingbourne Church and Village News as the result of the planned move of the Cobbett family to Tenterden over the next month or two.
The Magazine is published by All Saints’ Parochial Church Council and is edited by Carole Findlay. The Magazine is delivered from the Grammer, the printers on or about the 26th of each month and 140 copies are delivered to Foxgrove House where it is batched up for distribution by 11 local distributors. Another large batch principally for the top end of the Village and the Pilgrim’s Way is delivered to another distributor.
Two roles are offered including responsibility for batching up the copies for onward distribution in the Eyhorne Street Conservation Area, the Ashford Road, Greenway, and Hospital Road. The other role is for local distribution to 12 houses in the Eyhorne Street Conservation Area including the Village Shop. The local distributor is expected to collect the £6 annual subscriptions and to hopefully sell extra copies. The subscriptions are passed back up the chain to the Church Treasurer who also sells advertising in the publication.
The Cobbett family downsizing move also means that there will also be a vacancy for an editor of the Hollingbourne Village website which is operated by Kent County Council on behalf of Hollingbourne Parish Council. The site has been going for 10 years and presently attracts around 75,000 visitors a year. It is updated most days.
If you would like any more information about these volunteer roles please contact John Cobbett (Tel 880543).
UPDATE – Tracey Scotton of Eyhorne Street has kindly stepped forward to take over responsibility for distributing the Parish Magazines for the Eyhorne Street Conservation Area, the Ashford Road, Greenway, and Hospital Road from October 2019.
