Overnight closures on the M20 from 1st to 5th April 2019.

M20 update April 2019.

Meanwhile the M20 Junction 8 coastbound slip road at Hollingbourne seems permanently closed for Operation Brock which started on Monday 25th March. Since then there have been several serious accidents in the narrow contraflow system on the London bound side. There have been local media reports that the present contraflow system was discounted as an option at the time of Operation Stack in 2015 because it is potentially unsafe for motorists.

The coast bound side is to be used to store 2000 lorries awaiting customs at Dover and Eurotunnel if the UK leaves the EU Customs Union after Brexit. In order to drive to Ashford on the M20 from Hollingbourne it is now necessary to drive to Junction 7 and then come back down through the contraflow system. An alternative is to drive to Ashford on the A20.
