Partial collapse of Hospital Road due to HGV traffic.

Hollingbourne Parish Council has been alerted by local residents to the damage caused by HGV’s in Hospital Road while work is being done on the railway line and bridge. At the Parish Council meeting on Monday 11th January the Parish Clerk was asked to write to Network Rail in order to ask for their comments and an explanation.

As well as damage to the road concern has been expressed about the amount of mud on the road and the fact that the road is partially blocked at times by the vehicles of the contractors who are working for Network Rail. It is understood that none of the train services operated by South Eastern Trains have been affected so far.

County Councillor Jenny Whittle has asked KCC Highways to investigate the condition of Hospital Road which links the A20 with Greenway Court Road. Much of Greenway Court Road between the junction with Hospital Road and eyhorne Street is also covered in mud and there are signs of tyre tracks over the grass verges.

Pictured below is some of the damage to the road caused by HGV’s (left) and (right) is the state of the Hospital Road railway bridge.
