Tickets for the 2019 Hollingbourne Pantomime Group production of Rapunzel will go on general sale from 10th January. The show will be performed in the Hollingbourne Village Hall from Wednesday 13th February until Saturday 16th February with performances each evening and a matinee on the Saturday.
The show is a new version of the production that was presented some twenty years ago and has a script by the late Val Leggatt with songs by David Head. The pantomime is produced by Colin Leggatt and the Musical Director is Philip Reed. The part of Rapunzel will be played by Cathy Spain.
The Village Hall has been used by the Pantomime Group for their annual production for four decades. It is also used daily by other organisations but the future of the Hall is in doubt as EI Group PLC, the owners of the land on which it was built in 1968 with funds raised locally, have so far declined to renew the 20 year lease which expired in August 2016. The lack of security of tenure means that the Parish Council, as lessees, and the Village Hall Management Committee cannot apply for grants to improve the Hall. The village funded Hall was opened in 1968 to replace another Hall by the church which burnt down in 1965.
