Upcoming vacancy for a Parish Councillor and Editor of this Village website.

There will shortly be a vacancy for a Hollingbourne Parish Councillor following the planned resignation of John Cobbett at the next Parish Council meeting in the Cardwell Pavilion on Monday 11th November.

After 35 happy years in Hollingbourne the Cobbetts are downsizing to Tenterden in November which creates a vacancy on the Parish Council. The departure also creates an opportunity for someone to take over the voluntary post of Editor of the Village website which receives 200-300 visitors a day and which occasionally provides news items and pictures for other local media. The largest number of visitors was 641 in May 2018 after Hollingbourne received some exposure in the national media.

The site has been running for some ten years and is now operating using WordPress having changed formats twice since the start. In August 2020 it will require a further upgrade in order that it complies with The Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Support is provided by Cantium Solutions and the system is currently financially supported by Kent County Council. Some initial training may be offered in the short term if possible.

The Parish Council Vacancy will be formally advertised in due course but more information about the Parish Council and the website can be obtained from Vicki Smith, Parish Clerk (Tel 880526) or pchollingbourne@gmail.com
